Spring Clean Your Finances:

It’s that time of year.  While you’re spring cleaning, don’t forget to take a look at your finances!

Clean up your credit-
Get your annual credit report from each of the 3 major credit reporting agencies through annualcreditreport.com. Review each to see if there are any errors and clear them up with the credit bureaus.  If you’d like us to pull your credit for you, give us a call.  We can pull one of your reports (Transunion) and review it with you!  We’ll even check to see if there are any ways we can help you save money on your outstanding debts!

Shred documents you don’t need-
Keep receipts until the warranties expire or the credit card statement arrives.  Keep account statements and pay stubs for one year, then shred them.  If you don’t have a way to destroy your own personal documents, bring them to one of the credit union sponsored shred days!  We plan to have two this year…watch for upcoming announcements of dates!

Review your regular expenses & purge-
Do you really need all those online subscriptions?  Right now, you’re probably going out to eat less and making fewer stops at the coffee shop.  Compare your spending on those types of luxuries over the past several months, you may be spending more than you think.  Make a conscious decision to cut back and save that money for something else!

Update Beneficiaries-
If there have been changes to your family, update your retirement, insurance, and bank/credit union accounts.  It may even be a good time to review or put together a will.  Call the credit union if you’d like to update your beneficiaries, we’re here to help!
